2019 Reading Challenge: 63 books out of 52 (121%)

So I've somehow managed to meet and go beyond the reading challenge I set for myself for this year. Instead of fixating on the amount of books I wanted to read, I focused on enjoying the books I've been reading. The book I'm currently reading is one of Kate Morton's most recent books, called The Clockmaker's Daughter. It is a bit of a stiff read and I've been struggling finding the motivation to pick it up and read it, compared to some of Kate Morton's other books. I'm not the type of person to just put a book down and leave it unfinished. So I'm gonna finish this book, no matter how long it take me to do so. Thankfully I've got two copies, both the first edition (signed by the author) and a copy on my Kindle. The first edition is the hard copy and quite heavy, so I'm pretty pleased with the dact that I've been able to get my hands on a cheap copy of the kindle version, so I can read it when I'm on the go without worrying about the weight of the book in my handbag.
2019 Reading Challenge!
Completing my reading challenge was something I really wanted to accomplish but there were a few times when I wasn't sure that I'd be able to do it. So for me to accomplish and beat my challenge by eleven books was a massive achievement, especially after the year that I've had. For those of you who know, I've had to go through three job changes in the last twelve months. The job I've had since July 2019 is the job that I'm more happy with than I can explain. Its given me a large enough of an income to keep reading my books and has given me all the more reason to keep returning to my books as the safe place that they've always been to me. Since I started reading books have been a safe place for me, and libraries have been a safe haven. I guess that's why I so love coming to the town library to post on my blog. There's a sense of calmness and safety here. I know I could always write a post on my phone and post it from there, but there's nothing quite like sitting in the library, with the computer in front of me and just write, whilst my mind wonders back to the books I've recently read, or am reading at the moment.
Plans for My 2020 Reading Challenge
I'm going to keep reading through 2020, however I'm not sure how many books I'm going to read over the next year. I've managed to read eleven books more than I'd planned over 2019 and I'm wondering if I should let this reflect on my new challenge, but on the other hand I'm wondering if I should stick to the safe number of 52 books a year. I know that I'm a book worm and I'll never stop reading. I just don't want to end up reading any amount of books based on the desire to finish as many as possible, rather than reading books to enjoy them. By the end of the day, I'll have fixed a number in my head, in regards to the number of books I want to read this year, and then I'll post it on my Good Reads account and on here, so stay posted!
