A diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure. - Henry Kissinger

Life is still beautiful at the moment. I'm just enjoying the peace and the calmness of it all right now. Andy's still home, and will be for another few weeks. It's been lovely being able to spend time with him. Some of you may be aware that I've been looking for new work, and have successfully found a job in a Care Home in a nearby town, with the induction tomorrow. The role is for a night care assistant, with twelve-hour shifts. I've done eleven-hour plus shifts back in the day. I've spent the last two and a half years working in the hospitality industry and in March it became apparent that it was time for me to move into another industry. I loved working in a pub, and I often wrote about it on here. However, it started having a very negative effect on my mental health. I had to learn to fight through panic attacks when there was a busy period, we were too short-staffed for me to be able to ask for a few minutes to calm down because I knew that the moment I stepped back into it, I'd get hit full force by the stress and the tempo of it all. During my time in the hospitality industry being able to journal was a great gift. Almost every shift I finished I write an entry before I went to bed. It really helped me unwind before I tried to sleep.
I'm going to be very English here, and write about the weather. Spring is definitely here and the weather is beautiful. We've had a couple of days of cooler weather, with rain and clouds this last week, but still warm enough to leave the jacket at home. As I write this, I have the window open to allow a breeze to pass through the bedroom as I'm sitting in bed with my feet under the duvet. Our new flat is quite a bit smaller than the one on the High Street. So Andy and I often get our time alone by sitting in different rooms (one in the lounge and one in the bedroom). We've taken to watching a series, Chuck, together on Amazon Prime in the evenings. It's really relaxing to watch a few episodes together over dinner before going to bed. It's been a lot of fun. Andy also got a subscription for Disney+ last week. Disney+ started in November and because of this, they've gone and has pulled all their movies from Netflix. It was a lot of fun to discover some of my favourite movies from my childhood available on there, as well as a huge host of other films. The selection is massive, larger than what I expected.
I'll write again later this week, with how my first day went and how things are going to be looking over the next few weeks.
