Falling Into A Pattern

Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.

I know its been a long time since I last wrote anything. Tiredness has been a big part of things over the last week or two. I'm only doing day shifts at present which I've found, this far, that it's a lot kinder to my mental wellbeing than nights ever were. The care home I work in is in Reigate, a town north of Horley. Its a small, private home that is well staffed compared to the number of residents there are. The best part is that the residents are the priority, everything revolves around their needs and their care. I'm still shadowing so am trying to pick up as much as I can from the senior carers I'm shadowing. I can't write much more about the residents due to my contract stating that I can't, to protect their privacy. Anyway, the atmosphere in the home is amazing, there's a lot of laughter and joking whilst we work, there's also a good stream of support. If I need help (or directions), I just need to ask and those around me will answer happily answer my questions or point me in the right direction.

Outside of work, a lot is going on. Often I get home after a shift absolutely exhausted. I have to catch the bus and to get to work on time, it means an early start. It's not so bad as the journey could be a lot longer. I do enjoy going into work every day and find that the shifts seem to sail by without too much dragging. Over my days off I try to make sure that I get enough sleep, as well as rest. Otherwise I'll end up going into work exhausted (which is into fun at all). It's nice to have a few days off during the week as it means that I get to spend time with family. I had my cousin round to help around the flat and I saw my in-laws last night, after work. I stayed for dinner and was able to get several half-decent pictures of Ash, Andy's cat (pictured here, purring loudly). It was lovely. I haven't been able to see Andy in a few weeks due to my having just started work and don't know what my rota is beyond the week ahead. I am planning to ask more about that when I go in for my next shift.

I have a few days off and am planning to do a few things at home, as well as catch up on my sleep. I've been waking up a lot earlier recently, due to work. I've always been someone who needs a good amount of sleep each night compared to the average human. I've also been trying to get out more, especially on my days off to walk about and get fresh air. Autumn has definitely hit. I'll try to make sure I get some pictures of the trees changing colour. I love autumn, but not the cold so much. I've taken to wearing one of my jackets over a sweater as its often really cold in the mornings (about 6°C), though it does get warmer as the day passes. I'm tentatively hoping for snow over my birthday and Christmas this year. I don't really remember it snowing last year. Climate change has done a lot of damage to weather cycles and I'm hoping that it can be curbed before its too late. If you haven't seen 'David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet.' I would strongly suggest that you get your hands on it somehow. It's well worth watching.

Gonna sign off now as I still have a few things to do before I head home. Please stay safe!
