Reasons For My Silence

Life moves pretty fast. if you don't stop and look around, once in a while, you'll miss it. - Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

There's a lot of things have happened since my last post. Work is keeping me very busy. Even though the rest of the country is partway through its second lockdown, I'm still travelling into work. My job in a care home is classified as a front line role, so even though many people have had their furloughs extended, I'm still heading into work five days a week. I love my job. It's very satisfying and rewarding, even though I am on my feet for most of my working day. I've also grateful that I'm able to work day shifts instead of night ones. I enjoyed night shifts when I was doing them, but they had a negative impact on my mental health. Day shifts have countered that. I'm just so grateful that I've been able to get a job in the current atmosphere that COVID 19 has created in the UK. There have been worries of the country going into another recession and many are losing their jobs. Many those working in the retail and hospitality industry. I'm just glad that I'm no longer working in the hospitality industry as my job would now be on unstable ground since the lockdown has brought about another closure for all pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops for a four week period. We don't know what the future holds and there are rumours that the lockdown will be lifted over Christmas and be brought back into effect after New Year's Day. I'm not sure what to think of that. I would like to think that we'll be able to celebrate Christmas with our loved ones, but it's difficult because I would love to see family who live overseas, but that's unlikely, yet at the same time I'm grateful that I will be able to see my inlaws. They live just around the corner and I'm fortunate that I can still see them (they're my support bubble).

Until next time!
