This Life Of Mine

Andy and I just recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary with a lovely meal out together at a little restaurant just opposite to where we live (sorry, folks, no photos). Life has fallen into something of a pattern. Andy's still working at Travelodge Gatwick Central, as a housekeeper, and I'm at The Beehive at Gatwick Airport. My shifts tend to be overnight, whilst Andy's are during the day. So getting time together is precious. Thankfully my schedule is now looking better with day shifts coming up in two weeks time. I'm looking forwards to having more of a normal routine, instead of sleeping during the day and working during the night. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy night shifts, but I also want to have something more of a social life. Though many who work in the catering and hospitality industry will tell you that the hours are long, and often over unsocial times.

Its hard to believe that December is already with us. Soon 2019 will become 2020. It feels like this last year has flown by, and as we begin December, the weather definitely has become fixed in the winter setting. Given it has felt that autumn was skipped this year, and the weather has gone from summer to winter almost without pause. In a way it feels like I'm playing something of a catch up game with it all (I haven't really taken any autumn photos this year until now). For the African within me, I've found it difficult to adjust to the huge change. Its more of the whole situation of going outside that has been hard (inside is okay). Every time I want to go outside, even to run the rubbish out, I've had to make sure I was decently wrapped up. There hasn't been any snow, and I am wondering if we will see it. That's one aspect of the British winter that seems to have gotten lost. We'll occasionally have snow in the new year, but its all dependent on what's going on in the atmosphere and with the wind.
I'll write again soon as my tiredness (from the last lot of night shifts) seems to be catching up with me and staring at the computer monitor isn't really helping. I'll write again soon!
