One Book at A Time

Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. - Mason Cooley

2020 Reading Challenge: 54 books out of 60 (90%)

Believe it or not, 2020 is more than three fourth of the way towards its end. Its been a year many of us probably would like to forget. 2020 has been hugely challenging for most of us as we've watched the world and each government try to cope with the impact of COVID-19's impact on the economy (on both a national scale and also on a global scale). We have less than 88 days left until December 31 and the end of 2020. For me, this has meant that I'm going into my final sprint towards the goal of reading 60 books this year. I know that I haven't written about the books I've read recently, because there has been so much going on in my life over the last few months. 2020 hasn't been as easy year for me. I've lost two jobs and have struggled to find the passion for books I once had. Yes, reading helped me so much during the times when I couldn't find the energy to even get out of bed (this was mainly during lockdown). I would read anything I could get my hands on because it was an escape for me. It helped me so much. Books have done that for me for a long time. Now that I've managed to get a job and I have a start date (more on that later), but I don't want to stop reading. That's the beauty of the Kindle. I still have my beloved kindle that I bought in February 2018. It still running perfectly well, and is almost in the same condition as it was when I bought it. Even though it does have a few scratches on it from when I dropped it on its face within weeks of buying it (so far I haven't dropped in the bath; my phone, on the other hand, hasn't been so lucky but, thankfully, is waterproof).

Over the remaining months of 2020, I fully attend to keep reading as much as I can, working around my work schedule, whatever it's gonna look like. I haven't started yet and my reading will be dependant on when I'm not working and how much energy I have left to put towards reading. I'm not gonna set my limit at the 60 books I want to read this year. I have 6 books left, and I'm gonna keep pushing myself to keep reading. One day, I want to write a book of my life and I want to make sure I've had the foundation I know I'll need. However, I'm not ready to start writing my auto-biography just yet. I doubt I'll be ready to write it any time soon. We do what we can when the season's right to do it.
